Families may seek help voluntarily, before litigation begins or even when no court matter exists. The first step is a brief inquiry to determine whether the practice can consider the request.
You do not have to wait for a judge to ask a question
Perhaps your child has begun to withdraw, conversations have become strained, or a separation has disrupted ordinary family life. You need not wait until the difficulty grows more entrenched to ask about professional help.
Although this website is called Court Reunification, Dr. Washam’s clinical concern is the parent-child relationship itself. Court involvement is only one possible circumstance in which treatment begins.
The same care, whatever brings you here
Whether a family comes voluntarily or under court direction, Dr. Washam’s starting point is the same: listen carefully, examine the history and relationships, assess safety and participation, and establish a clinically appropriate plan.
The focus is on emotional and physical safety, communication, accountability, and the conditions that can support healthier connection.
What if only one parent is ready to begin?
One parent may make an initial inquiry. That alone does not authorize treatment for a child or establish another parent’s participation; those questions are addressed before work begins.
A brief scheduling inquiry creates no obligation for the entire family. If the practice can consider the request, the next steps and fees will be explained.
What happens before treatment?
Before treatment, the practice clarifies the requested role, participants, permissions, financial arrangements, and any governing orders. Dr. Washam then determines which assessment and meetings may be clinically appropriate.
You will have an opportunity to ask how the work might proceed and how concerns or changes in circumstances would be addressed.
Start simply
Use the brief contact form to request a response, or call or text the practice. Please do not send confidential records or detailed family information in an initial inquiry. You will receive guidance about any further information needed.
